Surrounding area - Places of interest

Just 143 kilometers from Athens, lies the picturesque village of Ano Trikala, a destination for all seasons. With a unique view of the surrounding areas, the hotel "ARXONTARIKI-SPA", built of stone and wood takes the visitor into an atmosphere that promotes the local color and hospitality.

The visitor is in close proximity (just 10 km) from the Ziria ski resort and other attractions to visit. Among them, the unique Hermes cave with  stalactites and stalagmites that occupies an area of 1200 square meters, the Dasio lake which is a unique sight in the area and the Feneou dam that will certainly touch you. 

The area also has a wide variety of churches, convents and monasteries, most of which are from the 16th and 18th century. These will show paintings, pictures and decorations of unparalleled beauty, and the historical monasteries of St. George, Virgin Mary, as well as the monastery of Agios Vlasios which is one of the oldest of Greece, since according to tradition was built around 1400.

You can also explore the lush trails and paths by foot (hiking)  or using a 4x4 vehicle. You can test your skills in horse riding and archery at the Free Riding Center in Rethi, near Trikala. For action lovers, there 's also specially designed area for paintball.
